The basics
When is the Midnight Market?
The Life Forest Midnight Market at The Bower takes place Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 6pm to midnight both nights—a full-moon, peak-foliage weekend.
It’s held in the meadow at our ecotherapy trailhead here at The Bower in Bethlehem, New Hampshire. A free shuttle brings guests up from town, since there’s no guest parking at the venue itself.
What is the Midnight Market?
It’s a community gathering in a three-acre meadow at the heart of The Bower’s conservation forest on a full-moon night. At the event, you’ll find a pop-up market of local artists and makers, acoustic music around the campfire, and guided moonlit walks on our new forest therapy trail system.
It’s a family-friendly and unhurried event on the kind of night that feels a little magical: peak North Country autumn colors, a full moon, and the natural sounds and scents of the forest after dark.
Dressing up as forest-inspired creatures and sprites is encouraged but optional—you can expect to see a few woodland fairies at the event.

So glad you asked! Visiting the North Country during the last weekend of September is a spectacular way to enjoy the region’s peak autumn foliage. Here are some example itineraries for guests planning a full weekend that includes the Midnight Market.
Itinerary 1: The Arts & Main Street Stroll
Great for craft lovers, couples, and culture seekers
Morning: Start the day on Main Street Littleton and explore the Littleton Art Show—a beloved White Mountain tradition since 1969, and one of Main Street Littleton biggest events of the year. The show's long-standing history and commitment to celebrating the arts have made it a staple in New Hampshire's cultural calendar. While you’re there, take in the autumn views by the Ammonoosuc Covered Bridge and river walk trail.
Afternoon: Head over to Bethlehem to explore the town’s charming galleries, antique shops, and historic architecture while enjoying Main Street Bethlehem’s dramatic views of the White Mountains in full autumn color. Start your Main Street Bethlehem stroll at the WREN Gallery (across the street from this historic Colonial Theatre), and window show your way down to Lonesome Woods. If you’re feeling peckish after your morning exploring, pick up coffee and pastries at The Place Above the Notch, or explore the healthy lunch options and drinks at The Maia Papaya (voted best vegetarian fare in NH!).

Itinerary 2: Autumn Foliage, Nature Photos & Theater
Great for theater enthusiasts and foliage photographers
Morning & early afternoon: Take a scenic fall drive through the White Mountains, taking advantage of the peak September colors along Route 302 and Route 116. Stop at scenic vistas near Whitefield and Lancaster. If you need a chance to stretch your legs before sitting down for theatre, consider hiking some of the easier trails of Franconia Notch State Park—two easy and kid-friendly trails to consider are The Basin and Flume Gorge.
Late lunch or early dinner in Bethlehem or Littleton: Since the Midnight Market focuses on light snacks, artisanal goods, and forest therapy experiences, getting a full meal in town ensures you are fueled up for the night. In Bethlehem’s Main Street district, Rosa Flamingo’s, Rek’-lis Brewing Co., and Cold Mountain Cafe are great options for outdoor seating and a full sit-down dining experience. For lighter fare, great vegetarian options, or takeaway, check out The Maia Papaya. Wrap up your meal with Bethlehem’s outstanding James Beard Award-nominated Super Secret Ice Cream—truly not to be missed! Registration
How much does it cost to attend?
The Midnight Market is free to attend—you just need to register in advance, which gives you a timed arrival and departure on the free shuttle up from town. There’s no parking at The Bower, so the shuttle is how everyone comes and goes. The timed windows are how we keep the meadow uncrowded and the evening unhurried, so please help us keep the evening going smoothly by keeping track of your reserved shuttle times and arriving promptly at the shuttle stop at your assigned time.
Getting there
Where do I park?
There’s no parking at The Bower for Midnight Market guests. Parking space at the venue is very limited, and for fire and safety reasons, only the shuttle and emergency vehicles may enter or leave The Bower during event hours (6pm–midnight). Minimizing traffic is part of what makes the night remain quiet and peaceful.
Instead, park in any public parking space on or near Bethlehem’s Main Street, and catch our free shuttle to The Bower. The stop is right on Main Street, at Bethlehem Elementary School, located at 2297 Main Street, Bethlehem, NH. It’s about a 12-minute ride from Main Street to The Bower.
Shuttle service will begin Friday with a 6pm pickup on Main Street, and the shuttle will loop continuously between Bethlehem and The Bower all evening, with the last return trip departing The Bower at 11:15pm. Your registration email contains your selected arrival and departure times on the shuttle. Please take note of those times, and let us know well in advance if you need to change them. That’s how we keep the shuttle service running smoothly for everyone.
A nice way to make a full evening of the event is to enjoy dinner, shopping, or the theatre on Bethlehem’s Main Street first, then ride up to The Bower to enjoy the forest and pop-up market under the full moon.
Can I drive to The Bower?
No. See above regarding the parking and shuttle. All guests must arrive and depart by the free shuttle. That’s the only way in and out during the event.
I’m a nearby neighbor. Can I walk to The Bower?
For everyone’s safety, guests may not walk or drive along the single-lane driveway during the event. The lane must remain clear for the shuttle and emergency access.
However, if you are a nearby neighbor with knowledge of the property trail system, you are welcome to arrive and depart via any trail EXCEPT the driveway—and you’re welcome to bring other (registered!) guests with you.

Where is check-in?
The free event shuttle will drop you off at Camp Jack, right at the heart of the Midnight Market. The check-in booth beside the Camp Jack cabin is where to head if you need anything. It’s home to:

Can I walk the trail solo?
During the Market, our new forest-therapy trail is open by guided walk only. There’s no self-guided trail access on event nights, so the walk stays calm and safe in the dark. The guided moonlit walk is optional and a lovely, gentle way to experience the forest at night.
If you’d like to join, include that preference when you register for the event, and when you arrive on-site check in at The Bower tent in the pop-up market—we’ll sign you up for the next walk time.

Good to know
Will there be photos at the event?
Yes. The Midnight Market is photographed and filmed, both for the keepsakes of the night and for sharing the event afterward. Photo and video consent is part of registering for the Market: the registration agreement you sign includes a photo and media consent, so by signing up and attending you’re agreeing to appear in event photos and video. There isn’t a separate opt-out at the event itself.
This is an evening in a crowd under low light, and our photographer is capturing the feel of the night, not singling anyone out. We’re always happy to answer questions about how images are used—just reach out.

How accessible is the event?
For those unable to ride the complimentary guest shuttle due to disability, we have two vehicle parking spaces near the venue that can be reserved in advance by contacting the Host. Guests using these parking spaces will be given an arrival and departure time, and they must adhere to these arrival and departure times to align with the guest shuttle schedule on our single-lane access road and ensure adequate time to load-out and load-in to their vehicle without blocking the shuttle turnaround area. Please message the Host if you would like to reserve one of our disabled parking spots, or if you have specific accessibility questions or requests.
Are dogs welcome at the event?
Since all guests must arrive and depart via the shuttle, the only dogs permitted at the Midnight Market are service dogs with their handlers. Service dogs must remain on leash and under the control of their handlers throughout the event.
Please note that on non-event days (other than September 25th and 26th), The Bower welcomes registered visitors with dogs of any kind, subject to our land use rules regarding pet safety and pet solid waste.
What happens if it rains?
The event will proceed in light rain conditions if the venue and trail conditions are deemed safe by staff. More extreme weather conditions (high winds, heavy rains, snow, etc.) may necessitate delaying, cancelling, or modifying event hours for the safety of guests and vendors. Registered guests will be notified via email of any scheduling changes as soon as is reasonably possible.
In the event of a weather delay or cancellation, there are still many wonderful indoor dining, shopping, and theatre experiences in Bethlehem to fill your evening. Check out example itineraries above for other recommended activities in the area that take place indoors.
